RUGBY WEEKEND: CEGEP, University, High School, Mini & Club Rugby

Count 'em with me: The Mac High School Clinic on Friday, two Club semi-final games on Saturday, mini Rugby at Ecole St-Georges on Sunday, then the Abbott Men and Women Islanders teams, and McGill women. Anyone from a Rugby playing country like New Zealand, or the south of France or England might have thought that they were anywhere else in the world, but the western tip of the island of Montreal. However, the Rugby weekend really began on Thursday night with the 18th birthday of "High School."  MORE

TIGHT LOSS TO TMR AS STE ANNE'S SWEEPS LEAGUES: League play ends  28th Sept 2008

(Photographs L. Thomassin)
The Saints' 1st XV  fell 19-17 to a hard running, fast paced TMR squad on Saturday 27th Sept, while  the 2nd XV defeated the reserves. It was a terrific display of Rugby on all levels, & came as Ste-Anne's learned that they are League Champions in 1st, 2nd & 3rd XV League Championships.

RUGBY AROUND CAMPUS:  Mac College Resurgence, McGill Preview, JAC German 30th Sept 08

The Macdonald College Rugby team is seeing a strong resurgence this year with over  20 members. They have had close games against John Abbott and a good win over Ste-Anne's third XV in  the Fall series. These matches have kicked off what looks like an exciting season.  MORE

HOW THE ELVs AFFECT YOU IN THE SCRUM     By Dan Cottrell

The ELVs (experimental law variations) come into force on August 1st. You will have to adapt your coaching, or your team will struggle. There are two main changes to the scrum laws. The introduction of a five metre offside line, and the identification of scrum half offside lines. But what affect are they going to have on your technical and tactical strategies? MORE

STE-ANNE'S TOUR TO EASTERN EUROPE IN 2009

The Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Rugby and cultural tour to eastern Europe is under way. Parky is looking at logistics and  one of the preliminary plans is to fly to Frankfurt, then take a train
to Warsaw... he will keep us posted with various possibilities of where we go from there. Matty
is listing Clubs for both men and women to play. The fundraising committee of Laurie, Bryce and Stone met this  week and came up with some innovative fundraising initiatives that
will begin as early as next week: Stay tuned.
