HUGE DAY AWAY: SABRFC PLAYS 6 GAMES AWAY: HOME GAME CANCELLED. 28 June 2009
Even without the third team  playing its scheduled game at home, this weekend was a record for the number of SAB teams playing last Saturday. The senior Women's team traveled with the Saints  girls to Quebec City. The U 14 boys won their match, the U 18 men lost narrowly, while the Reserves won and the Senior A squad at the last gasp. Both the women's games in Quebec City were hard fought and in the senior match, the score was 0 - 0 at the half. Unfortunately, a penalty goal and a try by Quebec gave them the win 0 - 8. WOW! SAINTS (& ANGELS ) TAKE FIELD AT END OF WILD WEEKEND 21st June 2009
It's hard to believe that on a weekend with no senior men's Rugby games ( 1st XV, Reserves & 3rd XV were all off) there could be so much fantastic Rugby at Ecole St Georges. On Saturday 20th June,  before a large crowd, Ste-Anne's women took on TMR, in what was the 1st of several games this weekend, & came away with a good win.

Now TMR and Ste-Anne's are two teams that can be counted among the best women's Clubs in Canada, & if you will allow me, I would venture to say in the world. Both have produced  MORE

SAINTS OFF TO A HEAVENLY START IN 2009 Junior program is catching on  16 June 2009

29 years ago Bill Tierney, Andre Lafon and Stone ran the first ever Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Rugby Club junior coaching session. There were 9 kids. Over the years the program has had as many as 23 members in 2003, when Ryan Lynam led a tour to Wales and England. The program has also gone as low as 0 members in some years, especially when the  junior players were forced to play third division Rugby. The 2009 season though, is a different affair. Under the leadership of Lee Bieber,  and with a cast of enthusiastic coaches, our junior program is drawing MORE

BOBBY REPORTS FROM BURKINA FASO       23rd June 2009

If I could put the experience of Burkina Faso, West Africa, into some kind of perspective and compare it to something more familiar, I would say it's like going to a wonderful looking, all inclusive hotel, then getting food poisoning, and finally not being allowed to leave the country after your stay at the hotel has expired. In other words, when you first arrive, you are treated as a welcome guest, a celebrity; everyone loves you. Of course, what you soon learn is that this is because the locals want your money and/or to join you back in Canada  MORE

INTERNATIONAL SABRFC NEWS STORIES            8th June 2009

Yes you could believe your eyes. That was Steve Broughton. long-time SABRFC stalwart, on the pitch at the Wales vs Canada game at York University a few weeks ago. He was selected for a half-time goal kicking contest, vying with another spectator for a purse of  $ 2,000. Steve started well, and his opponent was a terrible kicker. While he converted his first two attempts, his opponent fell over and hit the crossbar, then hit the upright. In the end the contest all came down to the third and final kick. Steve's opponent failed and the kick hardly made it to the goal line along the ground). This left Steve kicking for the win - and prize of $2000 ! Now, there was a headwind and crowd pressure ...... He missed. So, he had to share the prize with $1000 each. Still not  a bad afternoon's work
