2002 INDUCTEES
Bill Tierney

Inducted November 16 2002
Bill
Tierney is one of the solid pillars of
Ste-Anne's Rugby. With his Irish heritage, he has
constantly sought and found ways to develop the game
of Rugby in Ste-Anne's, as a coach, as a player and as
mayor
His selection as the first
ever Hall of Famer is a reflection of a long and
successful career as a player in England, where he
played Number 8 for Bedford in the English 1st
Division, in Nova Scotia where he played Provincial
Rugby at fly half, in France and in Québec.
He won the Eastern Canada Club Championship, played
for the Club, Quebec and Eastern Canada.
Bill was a Club and Provincial Junior Coach. He has
led the development of the St. George's
sports
fields with new posts, grass, and change facilities,
and in 2005 was re-elected Mayor of the town. Bill
lives in Ste-Anne's and teaches at John Abbott
College. Bill is a worthy founding member of the Hall
of Fame.
Martin Silverstone

Inducted November 16 2002
Martin is the lynch pin of the Ste-Anne's Club, the
glue that holds everything together. His laid back
style of management may remind one of crazy glue at
times, but it always seems to work. Stone has won many awards in his illustrious
career. "Most tries in practice, all tries in
practice" being the first way back in 1977. He is
most remembered for losing the Captain's mug in 1980,
something most alumni have never forgiven him for.
He tells
many stories about France
which no one believes, and on every Rugby tour he has helped
to organize, at least one person has almost died. In
2000 he won the prestigious "Most practices made,
fewest games played" award - a feat he duplicated
this year.
He has been investigated for contributing
to the delinquency of minors and he once held a party
in which his entire house almost fell down. Stone: a
true Hall of Famer, and a rock on which the Club has
been built.
