INTRA SQUAD GAME OPENS SABRFC SEASON 3rd May 2009 2009
Almost two full squads show up for pre-season matches
This opening day of the SABRFC Rugby season was billed as a Sevens
Tournament.

However, enough players showed up at the Ecole St-Georges field to allow the
players to contest a full 80 minute match. Winter training has obviously
been useful too, as there was some excellent Rugby played. Amongst the
highlights, the very best came in the final 20 minutes. Hayden Thomassin
jinked and then left Matt DeGraff in his dust. Genex has arrived in the
Ste-Anne's Club and I am glad that I was there to witness it.

A good core of new players, including Andrew, Vinnie and Ronan took
part and had a chance to experience Rugby at the top. All show great
potential, especially Ronan who scored two tries and also showed a
willingness to take on the opposition physically and even take the big hit.

Shaun Oosthuisen served notice that he was back in town, slicing through
the defence for three tries, or maybe even four.

The match was played at full pace and as you might guess, it was very
competitive. No players were sanctioned, but the referee had to be ejected
and replaced in the fourth quarter. He was lucky to start the game anyway
given his poor presentation and demeanor.
