Rockhill
Mini
and
Youth Rugby
Club
Registration
Age info
Mini
Rugby
comes
with its
own set
of rules
for each
age
group.
The
objective
of
mini-rugby
is to
gradually
introduce
boys and
girls to
the
skills
of
rugby,
taking
every
care to
make it
fun.
Instruction
from the
coaches
must pay
particular
attention
to the
safety
of the
children.
Our goal
as
parents,
coaches
and
organizers
is to
create a
fun,
non-competitive
atmosphere
where
the
children
can
learn to
play one
of the
fastest
growing
sports
in
Canada.
“Let’s
Play!”
All
age
groups
will be
registered
with
Rugby
Quebec
and
Rugby
Canada
for
insurance
purposes.
The fees
per
child
covers
registration
&
insurance,
a
Rockhill
T-shirt,
and will
contribute
to club
start up
costs
(balls,
tags,
pinnies,
web
site,
promotion,
coaching
clinics).
All
funds
that are
raised
over the
summer
through
canteens
or
sponsors
will be
put back
into our
program
for
development
and the
year-end
BBQ.
The
Micro,
Mini,
Midi
and
Youth groups
will be
supervised
by our
certified
Community
Coaches
and will
begin to
learn
basic
rugby
skills,
while
applying
the laws
of the
game.
They
will
become
familiar
with
defensive
alignment,
running
into
field
space
and will
become
very
good
ball
handlers.
The
Micro
group
will be
boy-girl
mixed
teams.
The Mini
and Midi
ages
will be
grouped
according
to
gender,
so girls
will
play vs.
girls
and boys
vs.
boys.
The
following
skills
and
information
are
recommended
by the
Coaching
Association
of
Canada
and
Rugby
Canada,
and
should
be
taught
according
to the
following
age
groups.
Since
all of
our
players
are new
and
starting
with the
same
knowledge
and
skill,
the
coaches
will
delay
full
contact
until
further
assessment
is done
with the
participants.
